Reception at Dundonald

Here is Brian with fellow artist Moira Metcalfe getting ready for the reception to open their exhibition 'Taking Wensleydale to Scotland' at the visitor centre of Dundonald Castle in Ayrshire.

Dundonald Castle itself sits on top of a hill with splendid views over the surrounding countryside. Read all about it here.

The visitor centre sits at the foot of the hill and was packed for the wine and cheese reception on Friday, September 28, organised by the Friends of Dundonald Castle.

John Clark, Hon Secretary of the Friends of Dundonald Castle, welcomed everyone.

Brian responded for the artists.

The guests included 'Friends', Dundonald residents, and members of local art clubs. The reception was sponsored by the Wensleydale Creamery.

Some thirty paintings are on show ......

...... utilising every inch of wall space throughout the cafe area of the visitor centre.

L-R: Brian Alderman, Christina Stewart (Chair, Friends of Dundonald Castle), Moira Metcalfe, John Clark (Hon Secy, Friends of Dundonald Castle)

The exhibition runs until Sunday, October 28.

June Update

Here's the June update for the Burtersett Studio and Gallery! The floor has been laid (by Neil Scully in Karndean Auckland Oak), the walls painted, the spot lighting installed, and a start has been made in hanging some paintings.

The gallery will be open for business soon, and the 'official' opening has been scheduled for September.

Brian's work area. It is a gallery AND a studio.

End of May Update

Artist's proof for the new signage.

That's the door finished, now with its glass panel in place.

An attractive entrance.

Studio and gallery update

The new door on the right will lead via the wheelchair accessible path to the new studio and gallery.

Chris Peacock, a local builder from Carperby, works on the exterior door.

 Chris hard at work!

There's progress inside too, and Tabs seems puzzled by the changes to home!

The new interior door was built by joiner and cabinet-maker Dave Bushby of Hawes.

Almost ready to begin painting the walls. Then the lighting has to go in, and the floor laid.

Work Underway on the Burtersett Studio and Gallery

It was originally a door, then a window, and now it's back to a door again, as work progresses in turning Brian's front room at Hillcrest into a small working studio and gallery, with its own entrance. See how the front of the house looked before, here.

Inside, there's much work to be done!
